Laboratory Ergonomics

Due to the nature of your work and research, you are not only exposed to working with daily hazardous materials and substances, but you are also exposed to many ergonomic risks in your labs. Laboratory – associated risks are the same as those that occur in offices, in trades and in general industry. They include working in awkward or sustained postures; using highly repetitive movements, excessive force or strain and vibration.

Information that will help you make wiser choices to keep you safe while working in the lab can be viewed below.

UC Riverside has graciously provided a Laboratory Ergonomics Checklist. If you have answered "No" to any item plese contact EHS for assistance.

UC Riverside has also provided flyers (fast facts) for Pipetting & Microscope Work
