The UVA IBC recommends current COVID-19 vaccination for personnel who may be potentially exposed to cultures or animals infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus or recombinant variants requiring BSL3/ABSL3 containment. Individuals with known or anticipated laboratory exposure must receive medical counseling from UVA WorkMed prior to BSL3 Facility access. Supervisors are responsible for assessing appropriate work duties based on vaccination status.
Personnel working with COVID-19 patient samples are required to follow UVA Health System policy.
