Virginia Radiation Protection Regulations (12VAC5-481)

The Virginia Department of Health maintains these regulations for the protection of public health and safety with regards to ionizing radiation.

For individuals approved for using radioactive materials at UVA, the following parts are applicable:

Part I General Provisions
Part IV Radiation Protection Standards
Part VII Healing Arts Use
Part X Notices, Instructions and Reports to Workers

 

For individuals using or in the vicinity of Radiation Producing Equipment (x-ray) in human use, the following parts are applicable:

Part I General Provisions
Part IV Radiation Protection Standards
Part VI Healing Arts Use
Part IX Particle Accelerators
Part X Notices, Instructions and Reports to Workers
Part XV Therapeutic Use

 

For individuals using analytical Radiation Producing Equipment (x-ray), the following parts are applicable:

Part I General Provisions
Part IV Radiation Protection Standards
Part VIII Analytical Use
Part X Notices, Instructions and Reports to Workers
